Better Equipment, More Technology

Round Rock Police Department provides you with the best equipment to do the job, including the best quality uniforms, dry cleaning, take-home cars, Motorola APX radios, duty weapon, night vision, ballistic vests, rifles, Axon body worn cameras, Axon in car video systems, individually issued laptops, and iPhone. We want our officers to have the best equipment available to do the job efficiently and effectively. All officers living within the city limits or ETJ (Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction) of Round Rock are authorized to drive their vehicle to and from their place of residence (assigned after field training).

Training

As a member of the Round Rock Police Department, you’ll enjoy a great working environment housed within a modern police facility with room to grow. The Training Facility is on the Headquarters property and has modern classroom facilities, an indoor firing range, simunition training buildings and a slow speed driving track to enhance your officer safety skills. We offer the most comprehensive and progressive training you can get in law enforcement. Keeping all officer’s skill sets at the highest level is important to us. Annual in-service training is provided to everyone, and is scheduled on your regular work days. We encourage professional development, so apply for your own training course and develop your career how you want. Physical fitness is part of your work day. Our three gyms have everything you need to lift weights or cross train.

Benefits

Round Rock Police Department offers competitive salaries, yearly step raises, medical, dental, vision and longevity pay. The following additional pays are available if the criteria are met; fitness pay, education pay, certification pay, bilingual pay, and specialty (SWAT, FTO, DRE, etc.) pay. Round Rock Police Cadets are not covered under the Meet and Confer Agreement between the Round Rock Police Association and the City of Round Rock. Round Rock Police Cadets are not eligible for incentive or specialty pay during the academy. Round Rock Police Cadets are paid $25.66 an hour, $53,372.00 annually during the academy. Upon successful completion of the academy, Round Rock Police Cadet’s pay will be changed to officer base pay which can be calculated below.

The City of Round Rock offers a stable retirement system through TMRS, so your future is secure. The City of Round Rock provides an on-site employee health clinic, RockCare. All employees and their dependents over the age of 5, enrolled in either of the City's medical plans may go to RockCare at no cost. On-site medical services shall include, but are not limited to, primary care, health risk assessments, biometric screenings, call support, immunizations, injections, new hire physicals, police and fire personnel annual physicals, exams, and screenings (including random and required drug testing based on policy and statutory requirements), prescriptions, and laboratory specimen collection services.
